Hi,
Great episode! What is the best way to prevent hitting fat chip shots caused by "peeking" or looking up before making contact with the ball....also due to deceleration of the club head.
Great question! Fat chip shots, i.e. hitting the ground (big ball) before the golf ball (little ball), is usually caused by 2 things (picking up your head or "peeking" is not a reason for hitting it fat). 1) the player has the ball too far forward in his/her stance relative to sternum, or 2) the player lowers the body on the downswing (usually the right knee breaks down on the downswing), causing the club to hit ground first.
So, when you are practicing your short game (80% of your practice time), keep the ball back of center, keep extended at address, keep your right knee steady which will help you maintain upright posture.
Hope this helps, please review our short game eps for more "must dos"

Guys,
I've been fighting with a rubbish short game for years. Your chipping vids have transformed my short game, I now actually understand what I'm trying to achieve.
Sessions on the short game practice area are now a joy!
Thanks!!!
